Statewide red flags apply — no license or insurance numbers, skipping the survey/inspection report, a suspiciously low bid, or vague answers about disposal. In South Carolina specifically, be cautious of a contractor who says no project license or SCDES notification is needed for regulated work, or who can't point you to their listing among SCDES-licensed contractors.
