A crawl space is a name given to any of the unoccupied, narrow, low-clearance spaces beneath the floor. These areas are primarily responsible for keeping buildings off the soil in order to control moisture levels.

This will create a barrier between the organic material in the soil and the air in your crawl space, depriving mold of its food source.
